Privacy policy
In plain language, with no legal fog. This is a game for children, so there is one rule here: we collect nothing about a child.
Applies to the pixypony.com site and to the Pixy Pony game. Updated .
The shortest version
- We do not collect personal data — none at all.
- There are no accounts: no name, no email, no phone number, no social login.
- We use no cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner here either.
- No third-party analytics and no advertising: no trackers, no pixels, no ad SDKs.
- Game progress stays on the device and is never sent anywhere. If you play through Telegram, a copy sits in your own Telegram cloud — more on that below.
- We sell nothing and share nothing with third parties, quite simply because we have no data.
- There is one tile, and it is off — Crash reports. Only you can turn it on, and even then all it sends are impersonal technical numbers. Full details below.
Who we are
Pixy Pony is a small independent project. The game was made as free entertainment for children and is not a commercial service: we have no advertisers and no data partners. You can reach us at hello@pixypony.com.
What data we collect
By default, none. The game runs entirely in the browser on your device and sends nothing outward on its own: not about what the child does, not about how well they do it, not about your device.
We do not request and do not receive access to the camera, the microphone, location, contacts, photos or any other device data.
The one exception is the Crash reports tile, which is off and which an adult can turn on. What it does is described honestly in its own section below.
Where progress is stored
In the browser on the device (localStorage)
The game remembers what you have already done: the stars collected, the errands completed, the sound and graphics settings. That is written into the browser’s storage (localStorage) — a small notepad that belongs to your device.
These records never leave the device. We do not see them and cannot read them. You can delete them yourself at any moment — the instructions are on the For parents page, under “How do I reset the progress”.
One more short record lives alongside it: a snapshot of the current game held in the tab’s memory (sessionStorage). It exists only so that an accidental page reload does not send the child back to the very beginning, and it disappears the moment the tab is closed.
In the Telegram cloud, if you play through Telegram
The game can be opened as a mini app inside Telegram. In that case, so that progress is not lost when switching devices, a copy of it is saved in Telegram CloudStorage — storage belonging to Telegram itself and tied to your account.
The important part: it is your Telegram account that has access to that copy, not us. All it holds is game information (stars, errands, settings) — we neither write nor read any name, any messages or anything personal there. Data handling inside Telegram is governed by Telegram’s own privacy policy.
If you open the game in an ordinary browser, Telegram is not involved in any way.
Crash reports — only if you switch them on yourself
The game’s ⚙️ Settings contain a 🛟 Crash reports tile. It is off by default, and only an adult can turn it on, by hand. While it is off, the game sends nothing outward on its own — not a single request. The only exception to that rule is launching inside Telegram, and it is described below in the External requests section.
If you do switch it on, then once at the end of a play session the game sends a short impersonal summary. We need it for exactly one thing: to know which devices the game stutters or crashes on. The summary contains only this:
- the game version;
- how it was launched (browser, home-screen app or Telegram) and the operating system family — “android”, for example;
- the chosen quality profile and how many times it changed;
- how smooth the picture was: average and minimum frame rate, and the longest frame;
- how many technical errors and warnings there were;
- how many minutes the session lasted and how many times internal events fired — the counts only, never the contents.
What the summary does not and cannot contain: no identifiers (we neither create nor store any number that could be used to recognise a device or a person again), no names, no age, no game progress, no error text and no browser string. The summary cannot be tied to a particular child, because there is nothing in it to tie.
The report goes to our own site — to a relative address within pixypony.com, with no call to any third-party service. There is no analytics platform behind it.
You can switch it back off in the same place at any time, and it takes effect immediately. Your choice is remembered on the device as a single digit.
Cookies and trackers
We do not set cookies and we do not use analytics, ad networks, heat maps, A/B testing platforms or any other tracking tools. For the same reason there is no “accept cookies” pop-up on the site: there is nothing to accept.
External requests
Neither the game nor these pages load anything from outside: no fonts, no images, no scripts from other people’s servers. All the graphics, music and sound are created by code right in the browser. After the first launch the game is saved onto the device and works offline.
There is one exception we are obliged to state plainly: launching the game inside Telegram. Mini apps are required to load a Telegram service script from Telegram’s own address (telegram.org/js/telegram-web-app.js) — Telegram does not allow that file to be copied and hosted elsewhere. This is the only external file in the entire project, and it is loaded on one page only: the mini app wrapper at /tg.html. If you open pixypony.com in an ordinary browser, or launch the game from the home screen icon, not a single request goes to anyone else’s server — you can verify that in the Network tab of your browser’s developer tools.
One technical detail for completeness: the letters, numbers and lines of dialogue are spoken by the speech synthesiser built into your device (a standard browser feature). The game passes it only phrases that are hard-coded inside it — the names of the letters, for instance. How the device actually synthesises speech is determined by the maker of the device or the browser, and by their own policy.
Server logs
The site sits on ordinary hosting. Like any web server, it may technically record in its service logs the fact that a file was requested: the IP address, the time and the address of the page. That is standard web server operation, needed to keep it secure and working. We do not use these logs for analytics, do not link them to particular people, do not combine them with other information and do not pass them to anyone.
Children
The game is intended for children aged 5 and up, and we deliberately built it so that the question “what do you know about my child” has one answer: nothing.
We do not collect children’s personal data — neither knowingly nor accidentally. There are no forms for entering a name or an age, no sign-up, no chat, no way to upload a photo or publish anything. A child cannot contact anyone from the game and cannot pay for anything.
We aim to follow the spirit of the laws that protect children online (including the US COPPA and the European GDPR-K): the most reliable way to protect children’s data is not to collect it.
The rights of the child and the parent
This is usually where a privacy policy explains how to request a copy of your data, correct it or demand its deletion. Here it is simpler: there is no data in our hands, so there is nobody to request it from.
- See what is stored. Everything there is sits on your device in the browser’s storage — available to you, not to us.
- Delete it. You can delete the saved data yourself at any moment by clearing the site data in the browser. You do not need our permission and you do not need to tell us.
- Opt out of collection. There is nothing to opt out of: by default nothing is collected.
- Parental control. As the child’s legal guardian you can remove the game and its saved data at any time. If you have a question or a concern, write to us — a person will answer, in plain language.
If this policy changes
If we change anything, we will update this page and the date at the top. We promise not to start collecting children’s data: if something requiring the internet ever appears in the game, it will be a separate, explicit feature with a clear warning, not a quiet change.
